I Like People Who Do Like Nature Poem by Francis Duggan

I like people who do like Nature a similar love with them I share
Of their impact on the natural World around them they do seem to be quite aware
They do not shoot at or kill living creatures their idea to live and let live
Humans only have the power to take life but to the dead life they can't give.

I like people who do like Nature with them I share a common bond
They respect the life of the woodland the life of the river, lake and pond
In their backyards they have flower beds and flowering bushes as well as flower bearing small trees
To attract Nature's pollinaters the nectar gathering birds and bees.

I can't help but like the friends of Nature the environment they do not pollute
The World better for them living in it their kind I feel proud to salute
They stand up to the bureaucrats and developers to Environmental causes their support they do lend
Far too many enemies of Nature and our Earth Mother needs every friend.

I can't help but like people who like Nature the friends of the Land and the Sea
I admire them as honourable people they are blessed with integrity
They stand up to the greedy developers their fight is a fight without end
The survival of the human species on them it would seem does depend.
