I'Ll Go On Pretending' Poem by Victoria Gauci

I'Ll Go On Pretending'

I'm not going to ask you to love me,
I'm going to pretend that you do,
I'm not going to ask that you need me,
But I'll always be here for you,

I will not look for you around the corner,
But I'll imagine you are there,
I haven't seen your face in a while,
But I see it everywhere,

I remember the sound of your laughter,
It plays like music in my head,
I remember the way you smiled at me,
Every night when I go to bed,

I refuse to cry anymore tears,
I've done way too much of that,
I'm continuing to live a good life,
And regain all my strength back,

Although I miss you every single day,
I will not let pain destroy my spirit,
All I have to do is close my eyes,
And you're with me right there in it,

I wish you well, I will think of you,
I'll just keep on pretending,
Hoping that the end will come,
And that it will be a happy ending.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I've let pain and sorrow keep me down for far too long. I am moving on and I am going to continue living the best life I can despite the losses I've had to endure.
