I Lost A Love Tonight Poem by George Howard

I Lost A Love Tonight

I lost a love tonight
I am rent asunder!
No crueller words ‘Et tu, Brute? ’
I have taken her staff
Yet I fear I must still watch
For fear she stumbles into the void once more
My words of love, meant love
Not Lily petals cast upon the running stream
I held her bleeding hands!
I held her close yet loved her from afar!
Is that all it takes?
A whisper from a Judas lover!
Does my heart not break?
My beating heart was hers to take,
But one price, Love
Why?
I lost a love tonight
