I Love Her Poem by Jasmine Fafanyo Awagah

I Love Her

Rating: 4.0

It was broken and it made me cry
I was exposed from the only home I knew
Many hands held me but why
some wiping my face not to make me a clown
It was no make up but a new do over
Everything was new, in this strange place I had to hover
Unstable I was, scared my feet won't touch the ground
Strangely, everyone was happy for me around

Nature then put me in a comfort bed
Of my arrival everyone had heard
Scared of men in beard, cry at the sight of the goats rared
I laugh at fingers and funny sounds called words
Soothing, I heard voices, always calling out a word, called my name
I became used to the word so I turned always
Since I was still in a strange land most times I cried

She came in and the tears she scared away
Comforting me, she always did without dismay
She loved me enough to prove she always had
Even before I became aware of her
Long before my tears, in her heart she had me there
A natural cushion she was and is
Never bored, her company is the best
Chattered in the house, entertainment she became
Always wants my smile and worried of frowns
A walk, she would carry me through town
Always holding onto her back but she had my back with a cloth

For this I love her
No other would I love like her
What she has done for me I will always cherish
This feeling for her will never perish
I can't pay for keeping me alive
She is no ordinary woman, more than a wife
A mothers love is Prime
Even in the grave I still do love even in my rhymes
I still love her and always will
She is never forgotten
Really I Pray, till we meet again
Somewhere celestial where we will meet no pain.
