I'M A Survivor Poem by Victoria Gauci

I'M A Survivor

In deepest shadows of my mind,
I hide parts of me sometimes,
I have secrets that I do not share,
There are different masks I wear,

I’m resilient most of the time,
Rivers to wade and hills to climb,
Life can often keeps me guessing,
But I am aware of all my blessings,

People tell me that I am strong,
Most often I think they’re wrong,
Somehow though I make my way,
Dare to be different I always say,

When things are tough I keep moving,
And look for ways to keep improving,
Never taking things for granted,
Nurturing the seeds that I’ve planted,

I have so much love all around,
I like the silence as well as sound,
I pay attention to my truest needs,
Filling my life with things that please,

I live each day as if it’s the last,
I no longer exist in the past,
It’s never perfect but it’s mine,
I’m a survivor so I’ll be fine.
