I'M Clay But... Poem by Dr John Celes

I'M Clay But...

I'm clay but You had breathed Your life in me;
From clay, You made me man so uniquely;
Though clay, You gave a soul to seek Thee Lord;
Just clay, You call us children, Father dear!

What love mysterious made You create us!
What mind and wisdom made the universe!
What heart of mercy made us live on earth!
O Master, God Almighty, soul supreme!

None can transform us except Maker God;
He gave us His image out of sheer love;
He gives us grace although we don't deserve;
Do human beings show their gratitude?

God loved the world so much that He sent Christ -
His only Son to die upon the cross,
Redeeming mankind, freeing all sinners,
And being light and way to His Heaven!
