I'M No Puppet Poem by Shean Davis

I'M No Puppet

Just the other night when you were here, in my bed;
The love we made…the tears we shed
Did you take me for your fool, was I your momentary puppet;
Pulling my strings…wanting me to speak your language, smile only for you..
So did I please you; was I just what you needed for the time being?

I hope you've had fun, because I've grown tired...
I'm no puppet; you see...I have feelings not strings…
I have a true beating heart; not cotton stuffing…
[So]
Don't be so surprised that I'm turning and walking away;

I'm no puppet.
