I'M Sorry Poem by Morituri te Salutant

I'M Sorry

I'm sorry I was never there
I'm sorry it's too late
I'm sorry this game is simple and fair
I'm sorry I lost the race
I'm sorry I left your back wide open
I'm sorry I left your side
I'm sorry I let your wounds reopen
I'm sorry I made you hide
I'm sorry that by reaching out I pushed you away
I'm sorry that it had to be drilled into me this way
I'm sorry that I never knew I did more harm than good
I'm sorry that I couldn't see what you clearly could
I'm sorry that I'm choking up
I'm sorry I'm pouring this out
I'm sorry about this final cut
I'm sorry I missed your shout
I'm sorry I didn't listen if I had the chance
I'm sorry I couldn't see my efforts were at your expense
I'm sorry I couldn't be the things you needed me to
I'm sorry that, ultimately, I was never there for you
