I'M Sorry You'Re Wasting Your Life

Rating: 4.8

A world without trees.
How sad would that be?
a world without mountains or valleys or hills
rivers or lakes or streams or the sea
i'd have to cry. wouldn't you?
Oh wait, i forget who i'm talking to.
you're inside right now, aren't you?
eyes glued to the screen
of one of those cursed man-made machines
Are you playing a game? or chatting with friends?
watching tv? checking facebook? IM?
you haven't been outside today even once, am I right?
not one little thought of the most exquisite of sights.
before your defense, just answer these questions:
Have you ever stared up at the stars in the middle of night?
have you even been away from all these city lights?
slept in a tent when the forecast's nineteen?
or discovered a waterfall that no one's ever seen?
have you ever been hiking more miles than six?
or made a campfire, using nothing but sticks?
(ok, so i haven't either, but if you have, that's awesome, i want your number)
have you ever just sat for hours on end
and talked to the world like a wise old friend?
When you walk from your car to your house
and your house to your car
do you ever just stop and breath in the air?
do you even care?
fine, just stay inside in your self made cage
and waste your life playing video games
turn on entertainment and block out the world
And when the trees are all logged and the cities replace the rural
and the rivers dry up and the mountains cut down
i'll cry alone
while you're watching tv
and you won't even see.

Love the rhyme, love the theme. And I completely agree. You mountain-climber, you! (I'm dripping with envy.)
