I'M The First One Poem by Curry Bascue

I'M The First One

I’m the first one.
Everyday it is I who talks first,
I always have to say the word.
As if you don’t care enough to give the first word.
You used to start it all,
Early mornings,
Late afternoons,
It was always you who wanted to hear my words.
Who knows what you want to hear now…
Do you want to hear me say “I love you”?
How about listen as I say “How are you? I miss you”.
What do you expect from me now?
I would love to hear you that you want to talk to me,
But right now it’s as if I listen to you from a far off star.
It’s getting harder to hear your voice.
And once again, do you care?
I don’t want to lose you,
But if anyone loses anyone,
I’m the first one.
