I'M Your Dad... Poem by david lessard

I'M Your Dad...

Don't say you will not see me,
Don't say that I'm a stranger -
I love you with all my heart,
You don't need to feel a danger.

I'm not an unknown entity,
You know me and I know you -
Don't listen to idle gossip,
Of what may or not be true.

Time will not destroy my love,
Only death will kill that song -
and God knows how I love you,
I'd never wish you wrong.

Please don't turn your back,
I need to hear you miss me -
I need love from you, not doubt,
I miss you, can't you see?

Don't you recall, the fun we had?
Intermingled with the bad -
Now we're apart, it makes me sad,
You say you don't know me,
But I'm your dad.
