I Met Her Poem by David Ogolla

I Met Her

Rating: 5.0

I saw her leaning on the wall
Somewhere in an abandoned old hall
Humming a song with a tune so soothing
Snapping her fingers in the same rhythm
And I guessed she'd fall.

She gazed at the roof
As if she needed a proof
Of the greeting I whispered
Which made her stand aloof
And my courage went off poof!

She told me to relax,
As her song raced to the peak.
Waiting became my remitted tax
Coz she never looked like an artistic con
Lest I became an emblem of failure

It was Don Williams' song
"We should be together"
It's not a song so long
Sometimes I sang along
And our mix sounded like a birdsong.

The song ended with an excuse
"Let's talk next time"
And I murmured "it's fine"
That would be the next day at nine
And wow! She became mine.
