I Need A Smile Poem by Rik Bertrand

I am looking for a smiling face to get me through the day,
I want to be a happy man, and so I continue to pray.
Life is not so easy, when happiness looks the other way,
This game of loneliness is not a game I want to play.

I work hard every day and sometime in the night,
I work for what is good, and for this I will fight.
I am a humble man and want only what is right,
And though I work for love and peace, this load is not so light.

A smile will suffice; a just a small one, let me see.
You will see a sudden change in the heart of little me.
A happy face, a warming heart, a glimpse of reality,
will set my soul, so very dim, Oh so very free.

I am looking for a smiling face to get me through the day,
I want to be a happy man, and so I continue pray.
I know my prayers are answered, for I see a light above,
I see smiles all around me and they are filled with LOVE.
