I Once Prayed Poem by Randy McClave

I Once Prayed

I once prayed to God for a girlfriend
And I believed to me one he would send,
One who be my helper, I was excited to meet her
And for her to be with me unto the end.

I prayed to God every single night
And I prayed with all my soul and might,
Hoping for an answer to my prayer, my life to share
With a girlfriend that I would always treat right.

Of course I was married and I had girlfriends before
But, that story is told in a different lore,
They lied and they cheated, and those sins they repeated
Then they snuck out the backdoor.

I said to God a girlfriend wouldn't have to be brand new
Just someone that I could love too,
She'd be at my side, unto her my life I would confide
Someone to which I could say, "I Love You! "

I had even tried again and again online dating
To help me pick and choose a woman to end my waiting,
But, I figured out it was a scam, and they didn't give a damn
I always continued my frustrating.

In my prayer to God as I always spoke
I was always sorry if the Lord I did awoke,
I know he has more on his plate, than finding me a date
So, prayers and help from him I humbly did invoke.

I once prayed to God to send me a woman dear
To bring me joy and also to wipe away my every tear,
Maybe we'd share my house, maybe one day she'd be my spouse
I am still alone, and I'm still waiting here.
