I Pleaded You Not To Hate Winter Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Pleaded You Not To Hate Winter

I pleaded you not to hate winter,
Your brow furrowed,
Wrinkles on your face like cracks in ice.
You're blind, couldn't see love in winter's gaze,
Hidden like embers in a snow-covered hearth.
You missed the hidden beauty, the perfect symmetry,
Failed to see winter as the mother of spring's artistry.

So you kneeled, disgusted and dejected,
Biting cold, snowflakes melting on your lashes.
Please don't leave, I pray you, to see mystery,
But you turn away, deaf to my prayers.

You must know the truth about mother winter,
In winter's silent womb, spring's whispers stir,
A promise of blooms beneath the frosted earth.
Our future is tied to winter, regenerating life.

Winter, with your hot and cold blows, I love you!
Winter, in your quiet embrace, I find my truth, I love you!
