I Promised Poem by Alexander Romanov

I Promised

I promised to be your sunray
And guiding star at night,
I promised you to seek out answers,
Inspire you with dreams that soar.
And as we dashed, without knowing fear,
Towards the heavens through the thorns,
Each time, on the threshold of a wreck,
The world persisted that miracles,
somewhere, still took place.

Thread by thread, you've made me whole
You had woven from them my fate,
And if life seemed to torture your soul,
In my coffin you would lie,
And I thought that day anew will start with dawn,
And will reward us with its grace,
And I'll be able to be your light,
And give you wings to soar in flight.

I talked so much,
I believed I knew the essence;
But, intoxicated by the road,
You went away, and I couldn't
Get you back...
Born without a sin,
And baptized in tears,
You turned out to be my only dream...
In the days when the whole world seemed to be just ours.
