I Remember Poem by Ashitei Amar

I Remember

I remember her sitting in the right front corner
Her beauty striking like thunder
I remember her cheeks red with polish
For these cheeks every guy would wish
I remember her cladded in a vest
Maybe to cover her breasts
I remember hugging her
Pressing her hard as she gasped for breath
I remember her lunch got stolen
She kept calm; the lady in her proven
Leave it, take it
She is no more

I remember her in the lab with the boys
Laughing over nothing-making noise
I remember Racard loving her
He feared another boy charming her
I remember he proposed
Unilke Selkie, she never broke his nose
I remember her falling sick
Growing lean like a stick
I remember the last time we dined
A scintilla of pain in her smile
I remember her strolling to the infirmary
A host of feelings accompanies that memory
Doubt it, believe it
She is gone

The tributes are said
Tears are shed
The wreaths are laid
Our last respects paid
Moments of silence are observed
We pray her soul is preserved
The coffin is lowered
The grave is covered
The sobbing deepens
The wailing begins

Antoianette Adjorble is her name
I remember her name
