I Remember School Poem by Marilyn Lott

I Remember School

I remember school like yesterday
I picked out three dresses on sale
Wore white sock and brown ‘oxfords’
Got blisters first day without fail

No lunch boxes for us back then
A brown bag would work just fine
A sandwich, cookies and apple
Was the lunch that I called mine

My best friend Sue Quackenbush
Had two cupcakes that looked so good
They were packaged and from the store
Looked delicious from where I stood

I did get in trouble once in awhile
For I enjoyed talking to my friends
I tried so hard to be quiet
But sometimes my voice just gave in

We walked quite a ways each day
Didn’t hurt us a bit to walk
I had my big brother with me, of course
When I went to my daily bus stop

Yes, school was quite an experience
I didn’t mind when I was through
But they were days I’ll always remember
And I’ll bet you’ll remember yours too!
