I Saw Mary Again Poem by alexandros filippakis

I Saw Mary Again

Oh Mary, Mary I saw you again last night
Crossing the dirty streets of our town
A hopeless gaze lurked into your eyes
Then I heard you whispering clearly a moan
It filled with pain and sadness the air
And my memory just could not decline
To take a journey back in old times

Oh Mary, Mary tell me can you still recall
The man that so much you once had loved
The husband you chose, along to live with
Who put your poor soul deep into sleep
The deepest of sleeps in a wretched room
Where, pale and lifeless, I had found you
On a gray evening in a september doomed

Oh Mary, Mary still I often think lately
Whether you really diserved such a fate
Why was I unable to cope with despair
Thoughts like these for so many years
kept my sored mind searching for answers
Also guided my feet in paths of darkness
Cursing the Lord, all His silly kindness

Oh Mary, Mary maybe I didn't see you
It was someone else or just nobody
Eyes can't see as fog fills the mind.
