I See Beauty In Stones An Sand Poem by Raymond Farrell

I See Beauty In Stones An Sand

i see beauty in stones and sand
not in the blood red rose
which infatuates the heart
filling the eye with color
and the nose with scent
those childhood memories of
instant fortune and simple answers
roses of the mind
echoes of the past
when I was young
and could become anything.

I see beauty inn stones and sand
which endure and do not
leave me alone in the desert
scarred and beaten
uncomplaining they exist
ever present before humanity
after humanity before life
after death
I can depend on them
being there
and am comforted.
