I Stand My Ground Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

I Stand My Ground

The pain explodes in my ribs
Everything becomes a blur
Each breath hurts
I slowly stand
It slowly subsides
I throw one
It hits
They back up
Bloody ad bruised
They all laugh
Seeing me beaten
One throws a kick
It lands in my gut
I wheeze
And bend over
They laugh even harder
My pain
Funny to them
Broken noise
Bloody lip
Black eye
I move back
8 feet
They look at me…
Weirdly
They ain’t laughing now
I smile at them
Showing my teeth
Covered with blood

Even if I have pain
Doesn't mean I cannot fight
Means I have to get stronger
And fight harder

I stare at the hooded figures
They stare back
I slowly stand
To my full height
One comes at me
I stand my ground
He aimed a kick
At my ribs
I move
Block him
And hit him

For hours on end
This is what we do
Five to one
Keep on fighting
Each time I am more
Broken
Than the last

As to them
Not a scratch
Figures completely black
Solid but misty
Never do they show pain
A room of grey
Only colour
Is my blood
And their black
Mist robes

Their eyes glowing
With amber fire
So, so angry
That I have not given up
That I have not died
I will stand my ground from them.
