I Swear, Last Night, By Moonlight Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Swear, Last Night, By Moonlight

I swear, last night, by moonlight,
I beheld the same One I see by sunlight—
Who burns brightly, night and day,
Not just for me, but for the whole universe,
Illuminating all with His light upon light.

I faced the divine light, blinded,
By the shame of my past, the tainted history
Of my darkness, born from shades
Of delusion, illusion, and superstition.

But then a voice came:
'Do not fret your past; it's gone.
You will not be dark again.'
And now, I stand wholly
In the presence of the Light.
