I Think Of My Mother Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Think Of My Mother

I THINK OF MY MOTHER EDITH (ITKIE ZEIBERT) FREEDMAN

The feelings come and go
Sometimes they overwhelm my soul
I think of my mother
Who cared for me and loved me
As no one else ever has or will
And I remember her
In the days of her smile and happiness
And in the hard years and difficulties
And the courage and strength
Of her kind way
I think of my mother
Gone too long now
And if she or we will ever be again
God alone knows or doesn’t know
And soon I and my longings and feelings
Will be too an eternal question
Dear Ma how good you were to us
And what love you gave
When all else was alone and afraid.
