I Told You So Poem by Ivory Strife

I Told You So

Memories race through, the back of my mind,
slowly fading away, in the sands of time,
Memories of my past, memories of my life, memories of you.
I remember how you said you loved me too,
even after all the things I put you through.
I remember how you kissed me, touched me, let me fall,
but you didn't catch me!

Don't wake me up just leave me be,
as time flies by I began to see,
I remember it all now!

'I'll never leave you' that's what you said,
but as I lie here on my death bed,
I realize you're nowhere in sight.
And if I do die here to night,
I just wanted you to know,
I told you so!

I knew this wasn't going to work,
we were going way too fast,
I knew we would never ever last!
You said 'We'll be okay.'
But just remember I was the one to say,
I told you so!
'I love you' you'd always say,
but the dawn brings me a brand new day,
and I don't love you anymore!
I told you so!
I told you so.

Before you I was a broken mess,
without a care in the world, so heartless.
But as I began to age,
I met you and my whole world started to change.
Now full of color and full of life,
everything was going just fine until you-
YOU broke my heart in two!
Now all I want is to be free,
even if that means hanging myself from the nearest tree!
'I will love you until I die' that was by far your biggest lie.
But before you leave my life,
I need to let you know,
I told you so!

I knew this wasn't going to work,
you were going way too fast,
I knew it would never ever last!
I said 'Nothing is okay.'
Just remember who it was to say,
I told you so...
I told you so.
