I Waited Poem by Curry Bascue

I Waited

I waited for you to catch up.
Everyday I would wait to hear how much you cared.
Your voice is but an echo now,
An echo within my heart,
Now empty with out the feelings that made our hearts my home.
Should I turn back?
No, the darkness is that way!
Regret,
Sorrow,
Sadness,
Is that where you ended?
Where you finally gave up and lost hope for me?
I won’t stop for something as this though.
I will always press on toward the light.
To that warm sun,
And maybe even to that deep blue ocean where me and you spent our days so long ago.
Your memory is what makes me press toward the light,
It’s your wish I press on.
I dwell in our memories,
But I see your shadow finally.
Maybe someday soon you’ll catch up
Things may be different than before,
Yet we will make a new promise to keep,
Until we meet again.
