When you said you were off to war
I cried and asked you not to leave
You replied solemnly:
“It is duty and in duty I believe”

I heard the news after every battle
And checked the mail everyday
Always disappointed to receive nothing from you
No news, no joy, nothing

Due to my worry,
People whispered and called me names
“She’s gone crazy with grief” echoes in my mind
They said to me “calm down, he will be found”

Time passed, you did not come back
My heart yearned for you day after day
But you did not come back

I remember you said you were off to war
And I asked you not to leave
If you will not return to me
Then I will go with you
