I Want Poem by Jessica Bacon

I Want

I want
to be not here
to get lost in a life that is
not my own

I want
to look not like this
to borrow another face and body
not my own

I want
to speak not my words
to speak meaningful things but they are
not my own

I want
to know not what I know
to regain an innocence
not my own

I want
to step out of my life
to be not myself
to be blissfully unaware of the horror
to have hope
to belong
these wishes are
not my own

But
I want
them to be
my own

This is the 'to be or not to be' dilemma, rather well expressed too. Congratulations.
