I Want To Feel Poem by Scottie Allman

I Want To Feel

I want to feel
I want to feel the closeness of your breath
I want to feel the softness of your skin against mine
I want to feel...
I want to feel!

I want to feel your mind touching mine.
I want to feel your lips drawing near,
I want to feel you reach for me
I want to feel you want me.

I want to feel you against me as we break the dawn.
I want to feel you awake from the deepest sleep.
I want to feel the water on our skin,
I want to feel your eyes across the breakfast table on a sunny day.
I want to feel time slow to a crawl,
I want to feel the day belong to us
I want to feel...
I want to feel...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
While living in Bavaria in 2012, my German girlfriend asked me about the process by which I wrote poetry. I tried to explain to her that as a writer of free verse, I often simply took a feeling or something that inspired me a ran with it.

I wrote this poem on my iPad in about five minutes. I hope that you enjoy it.
