I Want To Go Poem by Barry Middleton

I Want To Go

I want to go
where raintrees grow,
back to the forest
of my birth.

I want to know
what the raintrees know,
and learn all the secrets
of Earth.

Does it lie to the south
as I always believed,
and still farther south
I must go?

Or is it within,
or the smile of a friend,
or some place
I never will know?
