I Want To Paint A Picture Poem by Bailadora P

I Want To Paint A Picture

Rating: 5.0

I want to paint a picture
Of the sun at high noon.
To capture all the beauty
Of the brilliant full moon.
I'd love to sketch the robins
With their wings stretched high,
Or illustrate the bumblebee
buzzing in the sky

I wish i could convey
The beauty on the globe,
Depicting people's eyes
And the kindness that they hold.
I long to document a man
Helping someone else
As if to show the world
We can still fix ourselves.

I want to tell a story
Of love and unity.
Of people coming together
To form one community.
I yearn to prove that we are good
No matter what our politics
Just because I contradict you
Doesn't make me a lunatic.

No one seems to want
To see goodness all around.
I guess it just seems easier
To burn it to the ground.
I want to paint a picture
To show the world it's worth
But I'm not big enough
To pull the whole world down to earth.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Not the first poem I ever wrote, but it was the one that convinced me that I could actually learn to write poetry well, and kind of kickstarted this hobby of mine.
