I Want To Write Poem by Esther Moe

I Want To Write

I want to write for everyone, I want to write for me
I want to write for all the world and for my family

I want to write for my dentist, my neighbor,
the firefighter and all who labor

the garbage hauler, nurse, the preacher
the mechanic, salesman and the teacher

I want to write for my niece, the police
and the lady who makes 'atole de anise'

the innocent, the guilty and those who can't spell
my friends, my enemies and those who've been through hell

I want to write for the injured, the lame
and those who can't sign their name

I want to write for everyone, I want to write for me
I want to write for all the world and for my family
