I Want You To Want Me Poem by Dakota Ellerton

I Want You To Want Me

I want you to want me
only me, no one else
let’s cuddle up
just ourselves

New years eve
we sat on the love seat
you started cuddling up beside me
as we watched a rapist get beat

I slowly gave a yawn
as I put my arm around you
we both started laughing
just us two

I need you to need me
just me
you could only love me
if I was a he?

didn’t I didn’t I see you crying
I turned out to be the guy you love
you thought Alex was a god send
instead it was just me with a glove

male or female
could you love me?
I’m trying so hard
to help you see
you can love the women
if you loved the man in me

I’d love you to love me
for who I am
not gorgeous not a celebrity
not a man

What do you say
give me a try
I’ll hold your heart,
and hold you when you cry.
