I WANTED TO DREAM AGAIN OF YOU

I wanted to dream again of you
As you were when we were young
As we were when we were young
As love was when we were young-

I wanted to dream
Of all we had just in being together-

But it has been so many years
I am afraid to dream-

You have gone somewhere else
And I long ago reluctantly left you-

I wanted to dream again of you
But I knew
Our dreams are long since over-

And we in our old age
Will never love each other again.
