I Was Poem by Laureate Ezekiel

I Was

I am an aura of solemn and deathly wishes.
I wonder why I dream when I know it's futile.
I hear the crackle of vengeance in the spearhead of hatred.
I want peace for none but myself.
I am an aura of solemn and deathly wishes.

I pretend that life isn't more than dying.
I feel as if I am the burden on everyone's shoulder.
I touch the Threads of Fate, wishing it would all end.
I ne'er worry about my death, for I am already dead.
I am an aura of solemn and deathly wishes.

I understand that as lonely as I am, we cry together.
I say to myself that it was there, knowing it wasn't.
I dream of a love with no hate and of hate with no mercy.
I try to put the blade down...
I hope it's not too deep...
I am an aura of solemn and deathly wishes.
