I Was A Rat, But A Happy One. Poem by Twiggy C. Tubercio

I Was A Rat, But A Happy One.

We'd lay there for hours
Completely naked and pure
We'd discuss our past
present
and plans for the future
Countless hours of philosophy
Comparing and contrasting our ideals and opinions
Our skin would slide together, almost as if it were our segue to another topic
The electricity would slam and fly through our veins
The pragmatist on my shoulder waved it's bony finger
Logically this was false
But we lived for the moment
Her fingers gracefully paced on every surface of my body
We were completely content

I'd play the song she once heard before but probably didn't remember
Spread and unsheathed on the floor, she listened
Her words brought me comfort
Her voice put me at ease
Nothing in the world could possibly bring me down
I'd finish her song and dropp my tingling body onto hers
She was my electric eel
Only in this moment was I truly happy
