I Was At A Loss As To What To Say Poem by Royston Allen

I Was At A Loss As To What To Say

I broke the bread with my Lord Jesus today
and I was at a loss as to what to say.
For He had carried all of my disgrace
when He hung upon the cross in my place.

I drank the wine with my Lord Jesus today
and I was at a loss as to what to say.
For His precious blood had been shed for me
when He laid down His life at Calvary.

For He had poured out His life in death
crying out for my soul with His final breath.
Then as He cried out aloud 'Father Forgive'
He gave His own life so that I might live.

I had no words. I could only cry
and my wordless prayer was a sigh.
But in the silence of that lovely time
I knew that I was His and He was mine.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Whenever I go to a communion service, I find myself kneeling at the Cross of Jesus.

I go there to remind myself of the suffering that my sin had caused Him to go through, and to remember just how much He loves me
