I Will Be Here… Poem by Bryan Altendorf

Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine you’re holding me
Your chest pressed against my back
Your right hand caressing my arm
Your legs wrapped tenderly with mine

As your chin rests gently against my shoulder
I can feel your warm breath panting against my ear
I lay my cheek to rest on your hand in serene satisfaction
Feeling the comfort of your very being holding me

I can feel the softness of your lips pressing against my shoulder
The gentle touch of your fingertips
As they glide slowly down my arm
And entwine with mine

Both of us breathing in and out
Our body’s gently sharing a rhythmic sway
To a private melody shared only by us
With the soothing tempo, our souls melding into one

In the silence, I can hear your heart beating
I can feel your body quiver as it relaxes
With a peaceful feeling inside
Sensing your security beside me once more

I’m not sure what initiated this moment
A peaceful thought of the past
Perhaps the sound of our children stirring
All I know is… mmmmm… it feels so good
And I wonder if you know...
