I Will Not Be/What I Dreamed To Be Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Will Not Be/What I Dreamed To Be

I WILL NOT BE /WHAT I DREAMED TO BE

I will not be known
I will not be one of those
Whose works are read and loved
I will not be
What I dreamed to be

I will not be known
I will not be one of those
Whose works are read and loved

I will not be great
I will not redeem
My father's suffering
I will not make my loved ones
Live forever
I will not realize
My dreams
I know this all now
I am old
I should accept this
And most of the time
I think I do.
