I Will Not Love - Poem by Natalie Castro

Strike, strike, strike me down
I will never fall
Beat, beat, beat me up
I will never succumb
Throw, throw, throw me around
I will never love you
Take, take, take it all
I don’t care
Hurt, hurt, hurt my heart
It will never shatter
Push, push, push me harder
I will stay strong
Drag, drag, drag me away
My heart will stay in the same place
Make me bleed, make me bleed
I will still stay valiant
You see, you never knew
The true side of me
The side which never
Falls nor succumbs
Loves nor cares
Shatters nor weakens
Leaves nor wavers for you
I will never love you
No matter if you drive the blade deep into your heart
And pull it out for me to see how much you love me
No matter if you beat me or drive you away
I tell you now, you may break my bones
But you can never break my spirit.
