I Will Persevere Until I Get The All-Clear! Poem by Denis Martindale

I Will Persevere Until I Get The All-Clear!

Grammarly is my friend and guide
When poems spring to mind.
Hundreds of tests let me decide
On words found underlined.
I know my prose can be revised,
Improved beyond compare,
More so than I first realised
When reading here and there.
In seeking to get the all-clear,
On this, you can depend,
I know that I will persevere
Determined to the end!

Ninety per cent at first looks great,
Yet is ninety enough?
We know that that is not first-rate!
Ten more is what we love!
So I must edit and recite
The changes I have made,
How else am I to make things right
So I may pass the grade?
In seeking to get the all-clear,
On this, you can depend,
I know that I will persevere
Determined to the end!

Denis Martindale, for the 19th of August 2024.

Here is a poem about editing poems
because that is not as easy as it looks.

When we recite the first draft version
we may need to make a few changes.
Then we recite the latest new version!

Eventually, when we feel we cannot edit
anything else, we call it a day, and then,
as they say, we hope for the best!
