When the time comes -
For I know it surely will,
I will take with me all
Of what caused us ill.
Take with me the crosses we bore,
That shed a river's tears;
The blows that reigned down on us
All our losses, all our fears.
Take with me our foolhardy ventures
Born of simple naivety,
Leave to you what was hard won,
A peaceful tempered security.
Now the hour is upon us
And I must bid a sad farewell,
But leave you love to last your days
And I to infinity to fly, to dwell.
