I wish I knew
How to restore
Torn rose petals
Back upon their withered calyx.
I wish I knew
How to rewind the course of my life,
Format my moments with you
And become perfect strangers again.
I wish I knew
How to avenge with indifference
And sting with cynical glances.
I wish I knew
How to unfamiliarize myself,
To untie the knots of the tender intimacy
We once shared,
And pretend as if
You mean NOTHING to me at all.
I wish I knew
How to transcribe the language
Of an anxious mind
From invisible tears
Into a plastic smile.
I wish I knew
How to look
And look away
From the one whose words
Still echo in my ears
And guide me every second.
The man I pray to
And pray for
Every morning
Every day.
I wish I knew
How to heal bleeding gashes
Scratched time and time again.
I wish I knew……..

A strong, wondrous poem.. and I have the sense that you WILL know.. because of the questions you are able to ask, so expressively..
