Kong Yin

I Wonder… - Poem by Kong Yin

The vast desert breeze
bore the tinkle of a camel’s bell,
and then I wondered where it went.

In the quiet dark night,
a firefly quivered on my palm,
and then I wondered where it went.

Seated by my exhausted feet,
he sang, caressing me with twinkling eyes,
and then I wondered where he went.

In the vast desert,
a tender yellow flower sprang up where the breeze brushed by,
and I wondered where it came from.

In the quiet dark night,
a blinding flash pierced the sky,
and I wondered where it came from.

In my parched heart,
a spring of sweet songs welled up,
and I wondered where it came from.
