I Wonder If Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

I Wonder If

All wars have been stopped
All soldiers are back in their homes
And terrorists have denounced their causes
As we battle our common enemy
I wonder if all bleeding wounds have been bandaged
As we prepare ourselves for the onslaught of CoVID-19
I wonder if our misunderstandings have been cleared
As we pray together for a quick end to the coronavirus outbreak
I wonder if all our ideological differences have been frozen
As we kneel in prayer from different religions and races
I wonder if all our "separations" either by class, religion or race
Have been broken
As we look to each other for hope, comfort and love
I wonder if the capitalists and the communist are speaking to each other
I wonder if all our political bickering have stopped
I wonder if the poor and the rich are now coming closer to each other
At least in spirit as they face a common enemy
I wonder if we are all fed
I wonder if no one is battling the pangs of poverty
I wonder if all the homeless people have found homes
I wonder if all our egos have been erased
And our hearts cleansed of wickedness
As we look up to God to answer our prayers
I wonder if humanity has found its spiritual awakening
Amidst the chaos of COVID-19
I wonder if we will pave a new path
And we will deflate all our differences
As we come together under the tent of survival
I wonder if we can all be humanitarians
And bind our hearts together
In a common path of Love
