I Wish It Was A Normal April Fool's Day Today Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

I Wish It Was A Normal April Fool's Day Today

Rating: 5.0

I wish it was not real
I wish it was a normal April fool's day today
And I was a victim of foolishness
I wish I was not on the path of two pandemics (HIV/AIDS and COVID-19)
I wish I was somewhere outside the current reality
I wish I was very faraway in the realm of certainty
Where hope and peace of mind are abundant
I wish I was in the land of Love
Where I could indulge myself in the endless madness of ecstasy
And my dream will never end
I would wallow in a pool of satisfaction
And my heart will be brimming with contentment
I wish I was home
Huddling together with my family
But I cannot stay home
I am a health care worker
My battle is real
And the COVID-19 menace is real
As for the rest of you
Practice social distancing
Wash your hands regularly
Avoid touching your face
Cough into your elbow
Do not shake hands
Stay home and save lives
