Ian Poem by Annie Velasquez

Rating: 5.0

This is a man
Who knows who I am,
and his soul, my own does love.
But in vain it did strain,
in his heart to remain;
Just not the woman he dreamt of

To him I belong,
as I have all along-
But it's just not meant to be;
So I pack up my things
and accept the ring,
from the One that does love me.

Know, I love you!
But it's what I must do;
-I'm letting you go -
Goodbye, my soulful heartbreak...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Ian,
... if you had only asked me to stay; everything would have been different. But I've accepted his proposal and its too late for us. All i wanted, was to hear you say you loved me the way i loved you. I wanted you to ask me to stay because you love me, not just because you wanted me to do better for myself.
So Let me let go...
