Ice - Poem by Sabrina Lacey

So this is a surprising turn of events.
My leg, hooked
between yours
beneath the table,
eyes locked, laughing,
knowing.
And how did we get here?
You pull me aside
in the hallway,
and kiss me in quiet
so that nobody sees.
You tell me that I'm pretty,
and I want to believe
that this means
something more than
a high from the drink and
you turning on the charm,
but it's the next morning
and I'm waking up alone,
going over last
night in my head,
again and again.
And not quite knowing
how we got there,
makes my head spin,
and wanting to see you again
makes my mouth ache,
and not knowing
about your intentions
is slowly.
killing.
me.
this morning.
So, the next move is yours,
sweet talker.
Don't make me wait.
