Icy Or Not? Poem by Amy Lynn

Icy Or Not?

Every time I run from you
I also run from the truth
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
How should I live out my youth

If I watched it once
I've watched it twice
These roads I'm on
Are covered in ice

I slip and fall
I cry for days
I lose it all
In a matter of ways

And in this poem
This wonderful rhyme
I lose all connections
All feeling of time

So Ill just take a stand
And get out of the race
I'll do my best to stay
In this forbidden place

But now the road is melting
Defrosting, if you will
My breath's no longer visible
It's easy to stand still

Soon I'll be uncomfortable
For soon it will be hot
I'll pray for ice in this heat
And everything there's not

No longer do you guide me
No longer hold my hand
I'm so sad and lonely
My feet warm in the sand

The iciness has left me
A warmth is in it's place
But in this crowd I'm looking
For your beautiful face

I find it in a window
I'm too late cause you've moved on
The iciness refills me
My chance has come and gone

The sand has changed
It's turned to snow
I lost the sun
And its warm glow

I realize now
As I'm filled with sorrow
For us there is
No more tomorrow.
