Idealization Poem by Lauralie Bradford

Idealization

Rating: 2.0

I am not one for structure.
Nor am I one for you.
Can't you see where I puncture?
Can't you see how I wound?
Desperate for me to be the one.
You'll fail, you'll surely fail.
Not your happy ending, there's no setting sun.
Prevail, you must prevail.
I know my disdain for society.
Attracts your wandering eye.
Yes, you admire my piety.
But you don't really know why.
You assume love is your sollution.
You think love must be the key.
But your love can serve as pollution.
As it surrounds and suffocates me.
I won't live up to your expectations.
The pedestal you've made in your mind.
Love is not your explanation.
You must break free of its binds.
Trust me when I say I'm not your savior.
I'll disappoint more than you can believe.
I beg of you, do me just one favor.
Don't waste your time, never fall in love with me.
