How To Live Poem by Lauralie Bradford

How To Live

They say, brush your teeth before you go to bed.
I say, screw sleep, go paint the town red.
They say, rest your bones so they can heal.
I say, hey man, do what you feel.
They say, if you ain’t got no money take your broke self home.
I say, who cares how much you have, you don’t have to be alone.
They say, only the fools will tend rush in.
I say, go at your own speed, give it your own spin.
They say, a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.
I say, medicine’s not for me, the Sun can heal me now.
They say, sticks and stones will break your bones and words shall never hurt you.
I say, woah, there’s no need to throw things and words can hurt dude.
They say, watch your mouth and always stand straight.
I say, amendment one, why don’t we sit, and way to alliterate.
They say, chew your food with your mouth closed.
I say, who pays to attention to how they chew, sorry to impose.
I say, this is how I live my life, join me if you please.
Cause for me life is the sun on my back and a warm summer breeze.
